I spoke with Shane last night (5/17) and this morning. From what I was able to glean from our quick conversations:
- They all jumped in to the Colorado River at Bullfrog Point yesterday to cool off. Shane says it was a refreshing reprieve from the over 100 degree temperatures they’ve been experiencing. He said that since there’s no humidity it’s the hottest heat he’s felt. Having lived in Yuma Arizona – a place you can easily find on a weather map, just look for the consistently blazing red spot anytime of year – I know exactly what he’s talking about. Nonetheless, that conjured up all sorts of interesting visuals.
- Foods been ok, basic stuff: hamburgers, spaghetti, but they are heading to Sante Fe today and looking for some good New Mexico style grub.
- They slept last night in a town called Valle, AZ in a little hotel, it was supposed to get down into the 30s, so this morning they were all prepared to throw on their leathers, but it was 70 degrees and beautiful so no need.
- Today they are going to head north into the Grand Canyon and then make their way east to Santa Fe. I looked at the route on Google Maps and it should be an awesome ride, scenic winding roads.
I have five questions I ask on our real quick calls – How are you? How are the guys? How’s your beard? Did you camp or stay in a notellmotel? How’s the bike? Before we got to the last question, I hear him say “Holy sh*t, a bolt fell off of my (crackle, crackle, crackle) need to go (crackle, crackle, crackle) love (crackle, crackle, crackle). Should make for an interesting day!
I am certain they will find WiFi in Santa Fe and update the blog accordingly this evening.
